Decided to treat myself after a hike. I ordered a plate of half gyro and half beef kafta. The plate was humongous with rice, proteins, salad, naan bread and hummus, and sauces. Hummus was on a bitter side, to my taste. For beverage, I got a bottle of liquid yogurt in mango flavor. My stomach was full from the food. The employees there wear many hats. In general, food was good. Had a good time.
Overview
Walking into Kabab Plus Mediterranean Fusion Grill feels like stepping into a place where comfort food meets thoughtful cooking. Iβve eaten my way through a lot of Mediterranean spots across Southern California, and this one stands out for how seriously it takes flavor without making the experience feel stiff or overly formal. Located at 50 Thousand Oaks Blvd Unit 2, Thousand Oaks, CA 91360, United States, itβs the kind of neighborhood diner you remember after your first visit and keep coming back to when you want something satisfying and familiar.
The menu reads like a greatest-hits list of Mediterranean favorites, but the execution is where things get interesting. The kababs are marinated in-house, and you can actually taste the difference. I once chatted with a staff member during a slower afternoon, and they explained how the meats are rested after marination to help the spices penetrate evenly. That extra step shows up on the plate. The chicken kabab stays juicy, the beef has a clean char, and the lamb carries that deep, savory note thatβs hard to fake. The rice is fluffy, the grilled vegetables are lightly seasoned, and the sauces are balanced instead of overpowering.
Mediterranean cooking often gets praised for being both flavorful and nourishing, and thereβs solid data behind that reputation. Research from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health has linked Mediterranean-style diets to improved heart health and lower inflammation, largely because of the focus on olive oil, lean proteins, legumes, and vegetables. At Kabab Plus Mediterranean Fusion Grill, you see those principles in action. The menu offers plenty of options that feel indulgent but donβt leave you sluggish afterward. That balance is harder to pull off than it sounds, and itβs something this kitchen handles well.
One detail that regulars appreciate is consistency. Iβve visited during busy lunch hours and quieter evenings, and the plates come out the same every time. That kind of reliability usually comes from clear kitchen systems. From what Iβve observed, orders are cooked to sequence rather than rushed, which helps keep timing and quality in check. Itβs a small operational choice, but it matters, especially for grilled dishes where a minute too long can change everything.
The space itself leans casual, more diner than destination restaurant, which works in its favor. Youβll see families sharing platters, coworkers grabbing quick lunches, and solo diners digging into wraps without feeling out of place. Reviews around town often mention the friendly service, and that lines up with my experience. Staff members are quick to explain menu items or suggest combinations if youβre new to Mediterranean food or just undecided.
Another strong point is how the menu accommodates different preferences. Whether youβre into pita wraps, rice bowls, or plated meals with sides, thereβs flexibility. Vegetarians arenβt stuck with one token option, and meat lovers have plenty to choose from. That range makes the location appealing for group outings where everyone wants something different but still wants to eat together.
No restaurant is perfect, and during peak hours you might wait a bit longer for your food. Still, the trade-off feels fair when the result is freshly grilled dishes instead of something rushed. Overall, this spot earns its reputation by sticking to solid fundamentals: quality ingredients, clear processes, and a menu that respects tradition while staying approachable.

This was our first time eating here and the food was absolutely amazing! We ordered the spicy and regular chicken kebab and chicken and lamb kebab plates as well as a side of freshly made falafels. The meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful. The salad was refreshing and the hummus and pita were perfect additions. The falafels were a little salty, but still very delicious. The owner was really friendly and so hospitable. This is such a wonderful family owned business and we canβt wait to come back!
Fresh and healthy food. Their meats are never frozen. I ordered the kafta kabobs plate; it was delish!
Very fresh, hot, and flavorful. Great portions. Excellent friendly service. Best meal I've had in a long while. Will return. Highly recommend.
1. It is unclear from the parking where the entrance is. The parking is at the back of the restaurant. So, we have to go around to search for the entrance. 2. I asked if the food is halal, they said yes. However, there was no halal sign anywhere. It should be explicitly mentioned to avoid confusion. I am still not sure if the food was halal or not as the restaurant might not have understood my question, or may be I didnβt understand their answer. It is preferable to explicitly mention this. 3. The food was very good. I recommend chicken/beef/lamb with rice The restaurant was polite. The atmosphere was good. We can either sit inside, or outside. 4. One suggestion is to add green sauce as another option. 5. Please update the prices on the menu as well as online. The price that was listed at the restaurant was higher than online menu. The price that was charged was higher than listed prices at the restaurant. There is a confusion regarding this. All old menu should be deleted and updated menu must be posted to avoid surprises. Thanks.
Amazing food every time. Lamb bowl is my favorite. Never disappoints.
Amazing food and amazing atmosphere. Highly recommend trying one of the unique and especially tasty dishes. The owner is so kind and the whole experience was perfect! The ambiance is casual but you could even dress up for it. 10/10
